Re: Squad in and outs
I would say a bit of trimming & tuning rather than major surgery is what's required

I would like to see at least one but preferably 2 top strikers come in, with at least one, posibly 2 of our 3 current ones going

We urgently need a quality RB (with Byram as cover)
We need cover for Cresswell at LB

We have already signed a new midfielder (not sure if it's officially confirmed)

None of the loan signings are worth keeping

Only if a real quality right sided CH becomes available should we need to move on any of the current 3

We only need a new GK if Randy decides he wants to move on for more game time

Interesting point about playing 3 at the back:

The more I think about it, start to wonder if present CB's could play it, Ogbonna being the exception.

Would love the thought of playing a good 5 up front, however as you say we need wide players to get back and cover.

Sure Slaven and Sullivan have a plan though.

I dont think its a big loss to lose sakho to be honest

Re: Squad in and outs
I don't think we will see Sakho in a West Ham shirt next season. That performance a Stoke was crap and to fake an injury as well , I think Slav will fuck him off .

Re: Squad in and outs
Yeah it is good site
When I was watching him I wondered whether Bilic planned on trying 3 at the back next season and maybe that's why he persevered with Antonio at RB as he could maybe end up as a Left wing back?
Possible as not many of our players are natural wide men Lanzini and Payet always want to be inside

Thanks, just looked at that site (its really good) and he has played a lot across the left at CB and LB.

Hoping he will be a good addition to the squad.

Re: Squad in and outs
Just checked on football lineups.com
It seemed they changed from a 4-4-1-1 formation to a 3-5-2 in the 2nd half of he season and he played nearly every game in the left of the 3 before that he was left in a 2 or cm and covered at RB a couple of times
When I watched him he looked very comfortable on the left so just saw it as his natural position and that he could easily convert to LB
He looks a good player anyhow nothing flashy

Oh and if Reece Oxford is playing up and wants to join his boyhood club Arsenal then I would try and get Oxlade Chamberlain as part of the deal.

Re: Squad in and outs
Out:

Jenkinson
Song
Moses
Emenike
O'Brien
Valencia

In:

Nordveit
Striker
Winger
Right Back

Song's replacement has already been sorted by signing Nordveit and he provides cover at CB as well.

All we need to do now is sell Valencia (I would take any offer above 6 million) and bring in a Striker, Winger & Right Back.

I would be happy with just 4 decent signings this summer. Massive changes are not needed just a quality right back & striker to go straight into the team and a midfielder (Nordveit) to give Noble & Kouyate some competition & a Winger to give Antonio some competition.

Re: Squad in and outs
Whenever I have watched him this season albeit only on bt sport he has played on the Left side of a 3

Why do you say that he can play left sided CB and Left back when he is right footed and appears to only have played right back? Not having a pop, just interested if you have seen him play or have other information. Extract below is from Club site under ten facts about him.

The Norwegian has appeared at centre-half, defensive midfield, central midfield and right-back for Moenchengladbach, scoring 12 goals in 187 appearances across six seasons

Re: Squad in and outs
Good point about Green... if Randy moves on, Green was released by QPR so would be available on a free... would be good backup for a year or two.

FrancoisVanDerElst 7:36 Mon May 16
Re: Squad in and outs
Nordtveit can cover Cresswell at LB as well as the left sided CB position

Re: Squad in and outs
Keeper: If Randolph is to leave (Can’t blame if he does) Then Ruddy (if happy to be 2nd choice) or Green again.
C.B: Keep the 4 we have (if all are happy)
L.B: Cover required for Creswell (Maybe a left sided C.B)
R.B: Required with Byram as backup
Midfield: Replacements for Moses/Song
Forwards: Not sure all 4 currant Forwards will be happy if we get a new 20mil striker Can see Valencia and Sakho going, If this is the case will keep Emenike (still 4th Choice) for 8mil (Can’t get a Championship striker for less) and then recruit new 2nd/3rd Choice forward

Outs
O’Brian is out of contract (good back up if required)
Lee (Does he still play for us) Can’t see him making it so let him find a new club
Hendrie (As Lee)
Oxford if he wants to go let him go
Anyone not happy replace

Re: Squad in and outs
For me there is a need to address our defence.

If we look at goals scored, we were joint 4th in the table.
If we look at goals conceded we were joint 9th with Palace.

Priority has to be a right back. Many goals this season came from that position and we need a good first choice with Byram growing/competing for the role over time.

Also concerned with left back if Cresswell gets injured. We have Page and Hendrie however are they good enough and how will they develop if Cresswell is constantly first choice?

The current 4 CB's are strong enough (IMO) with Burke/Oxford the future to replace Collins/Tomkins 2017/2018 but they have to grow into their roles next season 2016/2017.

Would release/sell:
Defence - Henry and O'Brien, possibly Hendrie if he is not going to make it.
Midfield - Song and Moses.
Forwards - Eminike and Valencia.

Youngsters for next season.
Cullen - First team squad - done really well at Bradford.
Page - loan in the Championship.
Martinez - too early to tell?
Burke - First team squad, time to bring back and give him exposure to Premiership and grow him to replace Collins/Tomkins.
Samuelsen - loan in the Championship.
Poyet - release?
Oxford - loan in the Championship for first three months then bring him back to grow into first team role for second half of 2016/2017 season.
Lee - release?

Buy:
Right Back
Left Back (if Hendrie/Page not good enough)
Right midfield to challenge Antonio
Creative midfielder - Payet will come back tired from Euros and we need some cover here as Lanzini can drift out. (perhaps an ageing player who we sign on their last contract)
2 Strikers

Existing players focus:
Sakho - confidence looks low he does not look happy with life.
Carroll - wrap in cotton wool and ensure he has the right pre season, if he does I think we can expect a lot from him next season. Seems to be enjoying his football.
Obiang - definitely a member of the squad however with Nordveit not sure how he will respond. Will need careful managing.
The rest - hit the beach and enjoy, you deserve it.

Last question: Africa Cup.
Is it next January?
Is Kouyate and Sakho the only players on the books impacted?
If so, we should be able to cover this.

Re: Squad in and outs
Moses, Emineke, Song are going back to their respective home clubs as we're not interested in securing them long term - That's 3 gone immediately.

Which players are out of contract this summer (I thought O'Brien was?)?

terry-h 4:59 Mon May 16
Re: Squad in and outs
Yes,Bilic has lots of decisions to make in the coming weeks, but none as problematical as someone at Barcelona wondering "How do we get rid of that waster Song?", someone at Fenerbache wondering " Fuck me,is uncle Emenike really coming back?" and a Chelsea bigwig saying " Surely we've run out of mug clubs willing to loan out that tosser Moses at extortionate rates."

RBshorty 4:55 Mon May 16
Re: Squad in and outs
Need to replace.
Randolph.
Tomkins.
Reid.(Only if the price is right.)
O brien. (It won't be the guy from PSG.)
Song (Nordtveit already in place.)
Obiang.(Think he wants more playing time.?)
Moses.
Valencia.
Emenike.
Sakho. (Wants to go back to France. Him and the club don't see eye to eye.)
Carroll. (Again.Only if the price is right.)

In.
Nikola Maksimovic.
or
Nicolas Nkoulou.
Jeremy Pied.
Roberto Pereyra.
Mario Gotze. (A guy can dream. Can't he.?)
Alexandre Lacazette.
or
Michy Batshuayi.
Gustavo Bou.

Might be able to break into the top four with 1 or 2 of them.?

BarkingMadHammer 4:45 Mon May 16
Re: Squad in and outs

Selling Reid and Tomkins is ridiculous !

cover Left back is needed, with Oxford, Burke waiting in the wings , Kouyate can cover CB as can the new Norweigan dude . . .

Agree with rest of the list , if an offer comes in for Carroll/Sakho I 'd consider . . . .

The Turkish lad was mentioned a lot ,Tore , Billic has managed him , could be legs to the story?

Lacazette would be a good addition , I like the Dutch unit at Newcastle Windallum

need to gel quickly in the new stadium don't want to get nervous playing at home !!!!

Grumpster 4:37 Mon May 16
Re: Squad in and outs
Just wait and see what Bilic does, as I trust him completely.

For me though, I just want a 20 goal a season striker who in an ideal world stays fit for most of the season.

If we'd had one of them, talk of officiating mistakes and getting mugged yesterday wouldn't have even been discussions.
